Bhutan is celebrated for its extraordinary landscapes, rich culture, and philosophy of Gross National Happiness. Yet one of its most remarkable natural assets is often overlooked—the night sky. The Namkha was born from a passion for astronomy and a simple idea: to create meaningful opportunities for people to explore, understand, and connect with the universe. What began with guided stargazing has grown into an astronomy-driven venture bringing together science, nature, culture, education, and well-being. Through guided stargazing, telescope observations, astrophotography, stories of the night sky, educational outreach, and astronomy equipment leasing, we aim to make astronomy more accessible while creating experiences that inspire curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the natural nightscape. Inspired by the values of Gross National Happiness, The Namkha also recognizes the night sky as a space for quiet reflection, connection with nature, learning, and wonder. As we grow, we aim to work alongside communities, hotels, tourism partners, and relevant organizations to promote astronomy education, responsible night-sky experiences, and dark-sky awareness.
